Investigation into the cause of father's bruises

October 11, 2025

After some research, the most likely cause of my father’s bruises is the medicine he started taking last month. The reason for taking the medicine was that the eldest lady said during a video chat with my father that he felt his condition was declining. I vaguely felt that it was a little bit, but I was just not sure because my father’s condition would change every moment, so it was difficult to make a real judgment. Finally, I decided to start taking some medicine for cerebral infarction. The list was recorded in my previous diary, and I also took medicine for the prostate.

Less than a month after taking it, the bruises appeared recently. The timing is consistent. It is most likely that the anticoagulant drug in it caused subcutaneous bleeding. This situation is relatively common. This is the current judgment. I have communicated with Dr. Xia at the nursing home and suspended the medication, except for the antihypertensive drug Jesartan.

Last time I called the attending doctor of the Eighth Hospital in Shanghai to inquire about the re-examination and asked her what specific items she wanted to re-examine. The answer she got was that it was just blood re-examination for cerebral infarction, which is known to most hospitals. Yesterday I went to Jiangda Hospital and the doctor told me a lot of review items. I was a little dizzy after listening to them, so I said I would go back and confirm with the attending doctor which items would be specifically checked, and I would also check it out online.

Review items generally required for online searches:

1. Blood routine - basic body indicators

2. Brain CT/MRI----check whether the infarct has changed

3. Carotid artery ultrasound--assess blood vessel plaque and stenosis

4. Homocysteine---high indicator requires intervention

5. Coagulation function - subcutaneous bleeding caused by side effects of anticoagulant drugs

6. Liver and kidney function--check drug side effects and effects of drugs on liver and kidneys

I will call Dr. Zheng from the Eighth Hospital tomorrow to confirm whether all the above items need to be checked.

It was sunny today and the temperature was not very high, but the house on the top floor was very stuffy. I still came to the cafe in the afternoon. Zhang Fan took a camping chair, made tea, and her Anastasia book, and went to the pavilion by the wetland lake opposite.

I then opened the personal website of the YouTube blogger Zhang Xiuxiu and read a few articles. I have a favorable impression of someone who has experienced cycling around the world. What he is doing now is to build a personal brand, form a one-man business, and choose a business with low or zero marginal cost. These are the words that interest me.

Today I am still in a bad state and still upset.
