Recording the year in Chengdu (2)

Let me talk about a travel friend, a Singaporean whose zodiac sign is older than mine. I will call him S here. He came to Sichuan, China from Singapore many years ago to do business in Chinese medicinal materials. Later he backpacked around many countries and met his current wife at Angkor Wat in Cambodia. I was traveling with a Japanese girl at the time. I don’t know exactly how we met, but we met at Angkor Wat. Thinking about the sunset at Angkor Wat, it should be quite romantic. I also traveled to Cambodia that year, and then traveled to many places together, and then settled down in Chengdu. After a trip, a person has to find his next goal and something to do. It was around 2003, and Chengdu at that time was very different from now. The pace of life was slow, and the streets and alleys were full of fireworks. The two of them walked around in this idle city, thinking about what to do, and finally decided to open a youth hostel together so that both of them had something to do. It was a perfect idea.

Install windows

Last year, all the broken-bridge aluminum doors and windows were replaced for the house in Wuxi. In the past two days, the broken-bridge aluminum windows were replaced for the house in Shanghai. The original plastic steel windows were in disrepair for a long time, and their sliding and sealing properties were not very good. My father complained that the windows were too heavy to pull. . . Forget it, just replace them all.

Read Schopenhauer

Today I read Schopenhauer's book that I haven't read for a long time. There is a chapter in the book that discusses uninterrupted leisure time in life. There is a sentence in it that only people with limited intelligence will feel bored in their free time. Thinking about my state of mind recently, I feel ashamed. . .

Record of the year in Chengdu (1)

That year, I dragged my body that was exhausted physically and mentally from the past five years, and wrapped my confused soul, to Chengdu, a city that gave me a temporary sense of belonging at that time, because I had a good colleague in Chengdu who was also very loyal to me. I have always admired him. I had heard about his reputation when I was in Daocheng. Later, China National Geographic interviewed him and had his biography. He is a person who has a good combination of ideals and reality. He knew about my closing of the store in Xi'an and asked me to come to him as the store manager and work together. In fact, he not only asked me to be the store manager, he also had ideas and was a support to me. I found out later. Although I didn't adopt his plan because I no longer wanted to be a youth hostel, but still I'm very grateful to him. There are quite a lot of clues in this story. It's a bit messy to write. Let's talk about it slowly. First, I'll talk about myself at the time. After I came here, I did feel a little more stable. Although I knew this was a temporary plan, I felt a real sense of relaxation compared to the feeling of being at a loss when I returned home.

Life is unsatisfactory everywhere

I chatted with a friend I hadn’t seen for a long time on WeChat and recalled my previous impressions of this friend. This is a friend I met during those years when I was on the road. She is a female and a Hong Konger. Her family background is very good. I remember that her family owned two floors of a commercial building in Xujiahui, Shanghai, with a high I was sent to the United States to study when I was in middle school. I finished college in the United States, got a job in Silicon Valley, and joined the famous Oracle company. I have a bright future in making money. I also have a Japanese boyfriend who also works in a company with a good income. This kind of life should be envied by many people in the future, at least I will.

An incredibly frustrating day

The last day of October, today is an inexplicably depressing day. I didn’t expect that a 46-year-old person would still be so emotionally unstable. People need to coexist with many of their own shortcomings in life, and there is no shame in admitting their existence.
